For those of you who want to root your Samsung Galaxy Note 8 on latest Android 8.0 Oreo, here’s step-by-step tutorial you can follow along with detailed video tutorial for beginners.
NOTE: Please note the fix in Step 15, if you don’t do the fix, your phone will be rooted but still encrypted, see here for the fix.
For those of you who want to unroot your Samsung Galaxy Note 8, maybe you want to go back to 100% stock firmware, update your stock firmware, or ended up in a nasty bootloop, here’s how to unroot your Note 8 with 100% stock firmware.
If you are still on Nougat and upgrading to Oreo, you can also disable OEM unlock and re-root, which I will show you here also.
If you have the international model (SM-N950F/FD) Samsung Galaxy Note 8, you can now grab the S9+ Port beta ROM, which gives you the latest and greatest Android 8.0 Oreo along with (optional) root. Now, everything works on this ported ROM so you will get all the new Android 8.0 Oreo standard features plus the identical software from a real Galaxy S9 Plus. But since this is super beta, the new Galaxy S9+ camera isn’t working yet(you can simply install regular Note 8 camera) and Intelligent scan/headphones DO NOT WORK. If this isn’t an issue for you, you can definitely give this guy a go and let me know what you think!
For those of you who want to root your Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (Exynos international version), you will want to definitely backup EVERYTHING beforehand as rooting involves wiping EVERYTHING on your phone. Also, Samsung Pay will permanently be disabled(not work) after root!(However, you can use Android Pay with Magisk root hide, which this tutorial is based on.)
